Fall Commute

November 7, 2008 at 5:32 pm 3 comments

I biked home from work early today to make it ahead of the rain. Even though the lighting wasn’t good, the fall colors were absolutely amazing. I had my old camera with me and got to do one of my favorite things to do while riding a bike — taking pictures! These pictures below are all taken on the climb up Smyer Road or from the top of the mountain at the Baptist Church.

Dave, I am using a Polar CS 600. It is a great unit because it not only keeps track of speed and heart rate, but also power output with the optional power sensors. Check out this post with a picture of the unit mounted on the bike: Polar CS 600 power meter.

Third time up and over Vestavia Dr - the nearly seven mile endless vestavia version of the climb. Forgot to take a pic on my 2nd crossing of Vestavia Dr, but here is the elevation profile of my direct commute home. 1st of 4 times up and over the Vestavia Dr high point today.
